OUGD503: Tattoo Culture Survey

As part of the monotype brief, we felt it was important to conduct some primary research, seeing what people of all ages think of tattoo's. As well as the survey, we will also contact tattoo artists and asked inked people personally, what draws them to the subculture.

The results give a good insight to the current mindset of tattoo's, as well as a hint to where tattoo culture could progress to in years to come. The data and qualitative research will inform the target audience further, as well as shedding light on what the real perception of tattoo's in todays world is.

The survey was online, with word of mouth encouragement aiding a successful response rate.

By conducting this primary research we can also identify personal reasons why people avoid tattoo's, and so can begin to form a contextual understanding of the culture in its totality.

The diversity of questions (created by myself and Anna) has the opportunity to evolve concept development or aesthetic qualities, as well as giving us a key insite into what popular tattoos/tattoo traditions may be.
