Our second meeting with the photography students allowed us to present the initial research, concept and designs to them, in order to asses feedback and see what direction they want to go in.
We found out they want the name to be, 49 degrees relating to how many of them are on the course who will get degree's. This suggests they may be open to elements of humour through the communication, as the name is a clever play on words. Due to the physical meaning of '49 degree's, we have the opportunity to experiment with angles through grid systems and all sorts of interesting design.
They ruled out the postcard idea we had developed for the graphics yearbook, as they felt it may not work for photography, however they liked the idea of including them within the exhibition for professionals and visitors to pick up. Overall the design received positive feedback, this meant we could continue using the typefaces and overall concept throughout the design process, meaning less work for Rob & Ben who are handling the yearbook design.
After speaking with the photography group Ben, Jen and I decided to speak together about how we should progress. As the previous way we had picked an idea had worked so well, we decided we would do this again. This involves each of us producing an idea and developing it ourself. We will then present it to each other, deciding on an outcome to progress with.
