After watching 'Inglorious Basterds', a WW2 Film directed by Quentin Tarantino the other night I had to pause it when this piece of typography shot onto the screen. Instantly I thought 'Immense'.
The block San-Serif and condensed letter forms with no negative space are grand, powerful and masculine- everything I want to accomplish from my typeface design. The use of a dark drop shadow from each letter is really effective, not only does it make the letter form even bigger and bolder, but when they are together in sequence integrates formal elements and shape composition into the background, in a subtle but 'immense' way.
